Daily Ummat ■ It won't be long before passengers traveling by air will receive an IATA Travel Pass, a digital health ticket where passengers will find accurate information about the journey, testing and vaccine requirements for their journey.
This IATA Travel Pass will support the reopening of safe borders, assisting the government's efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced Monday (23/11), that they are in the final development stage of this health ticket.
"The IATA Travel Pass will manage and verify the safe flow of necessary testing or vaccine information between the government, airlines, laboratories and travelers," the IATA statement said, as quoted by RTL, on Tuesday (24/11)
According to IATA CEO Alexandre de Juniac, testing is the first key to enabling international travel without quarantine measures. The second key is the global information infrastructure required to manage, share and securely verify test data that matches the identity of the traveler according to border control requirements.
"That's the job of the IATA Travel Pass. We will bring it to the market in the coming months to also meet the needs of the various travel bubbles and public health corridors that are starting to operate," said De Juniac.
The IATA Travel Pass will also have a global registry of testing or vaccination centers meeting the standards for testing and vaccination requirements in their destination country. (**)
