HarianUmmat.com ■ West Java's export performance began to improve after being hit by the Covid-19 pandemic. A number of companies and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in West Java were able to penetrate the global market despite the Covid-19 pandemic situation.
The West Java Deputy Governor said there were as many as 12 West Java companies and SMEs that participated in exporting their products in the simultaneous export release throughout Indonesia.
West Java Deputy Governor Uu Ruzhanul Ulum, appreciated the West Java companies and MSMEs that had successfully exported their products in the midst of the pandemic.
"Inshaallah, West Java will give full attention and provide facilities to businesses to stretch the economy," said Kang Uu, on Friday (4/12/2020),
"So it is hoped that the people of West Java must be engaged in the economic sector by still paying attention to health protocols," he added.
He said, the movement of the West Java economy could not be separated from the contributions of all parties, from the government, the private sector, to the community. He also invited the private sector to help build West Java.
"The West Java Provincial Government continues to move with the concept of Pentahelix collaboration, which consists of academics, business, community, government, and the media, in various efforts to improve people's welfare," he said.
Based on data from the West Java Central Statistics Agency (BPS), West Java exports in September 2020 amounted to 2.32 billion US dollars, an increase of 8.36 percent compared to August 2020.
Until the third quarter of 2020, aka the January-September 2020 period, West Java was also ranked first in the exporting province with an export value of 19.11 billion US dollars or 16.31 percent of Indonesia's total exports for that period.
Meanwhile, Head of the West Java Industry and Trade Office, Arifin Soedjayana, reported that 12 West Java companies and SMEs were part of 132 companies that exported their products simultaneously. The export release itself was initiated by the Ministry of Trade.
"What is even more proud, seven of them (of the 12 West Java companies) are SME players," said Arifin in Sumedang Regency.
According to Arifin, his party noted that the export value of the 12 companies and SMEs in West Java reached IDR542.74 billion. Various products are exported to the 12 companies and SMEs. Starting from masks, footwear, rattan furniture, snacks, to gold jewelry.
The export volume of 12 companies and SMEs in West Java is considered large, namely 40 containers and 10 box trucks weighing up to 669 kilograms.
"In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, many West Java exporters have proven that they are still able to survive," he said.
Arifin also appreciated West Java UKM players who were able to penetrate the global market.
"This SME is a furniture product, attracted by the market in Europe, America and Australia, hopefully it can trigger other business actors," he said. (R / 01)
