MER-C regrets Bima Arya's actions to intervene in HRS treatment

UMMAT DAILY ■ The Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C) regretted the actions of Bogor Mayor Bima Arya, who was considered to have intervened in the treatment of Habib Rizieq Syihab (HRS) while being treated at the UMMI Bogor Hospital.

MER-C considers Bima Arya to be unethical because he has published Habib Rizieq's condition.

This was revealed by the independent medical team in charge of the Leader of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Habib Rizieq Shihab, MER-C, on Sunday, November 29, 2020.

“MER-C sent him to rest in the hospital. However, the treatment he received was unethical and violated the patient's rights from the Mayor of Bogor by interfering with the medical team who was working, thus disturbing patients who were resting, "said Chairman of the MER-C Presidium Sarbini Abdul Murad in a written statement.

"The mayor of Bogor is also unethical in publishing the patient's condition to the public, which has caused unrest in the community," he said.

In this regard, Sarbini assessed that Bima needs to study medical ethics, where the medical team must respect the patient's right to accept or reject examinations and treatment without intervention or pressure from the community.

He asked the man who is also the head of the Bogor Covid-19 Handling Task Force to entrust Rizieq's handling to the hospital and the medical team who know necessary and unnecessary steps.

Sarbini added that the HRS family had the authority to convey health conditions. Not even a hospital or a doctor has that authority. (**)
