UMMAT DAILY ■ The Grand Imam of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), Habib Rizieq Shihab, conveyed an apology to the public regarding the crowd of worshipers who appeared after his return from Saudi Arabia.
According to him, the crowd was a form of enthusiasm and longing for the congregation in welcoming him back to Indonesia.
"I apologize to the community if in the crowd at the airport, in Petamburan, in Tebet, in Megamendung there was a buildup which was out of control because of the enthusiasm of the congregation," said Habib Rizieq when giving a speech at the 'National Dialogue of 100 Ulama and Figures', on Wednesday (2/12).
HRS said, various ways have been done by his party so that people who welcome him continue to apply health protocols and avoid crowds. However, due to the large crowd present, the situation got out of hand.
Therefore, he emphasized that the crowd which ended in a polemic with the removal of two regional police chiefs so that the firm action against regional government officials was carried out not because of an intentional element.
"Once again, I apologize if the crowd made unrest or made uncomfortable, or made an offense. It was against desire, accidental, and it is the enthusiasm of the people, who are longing, and love," he said.
