UMMAT DAILY ■ The mass action that raided the residence of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD in Pamekasan, East Java, was a manifestation of the Madurese people's dislike of President Joko Widodo.
"The people in Madura are NU (Nahdlatul Ulama), but they are anti-Jokowi. The proof is that the last presidential election only got 16%. So if people move to Mahfud MD's house in Pamekasan, that is the same aspiration as Madura does not like Jokowi," said Deputy Secretary of LPBH. PBNU, Djoko Edhi Abdurrahman in his written statement, on Tuesday (12/1).
He admits that his dislike has occurred in connection with the attitude of the government and security forces, especially the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, who often contradicts the high priest of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), Habib Rizieq Shihab.
"Mahfud was the one who attacked HRS, with slander and lies since before he returned from Saudi Arabia. Then followed by the Dudung Commander who over-acted beyond his authority and the Bogor Regent's cheap maneuvers," he said.
"If the masses go to Mahfud's house, it is still a linear part of the Madurese people's dislike of Jokowi. Those aspirations of NU Madura are linear with rejection of Jokowi," he said.
The Mahfud MD controversy arose during the plan to return Habib Rizieq Shihab. Initially, Mahfud did not forbid the congregation to pick up Habib Rizieq when he arrived at Soekarno Hatta Airport last Tuesday (10/11).
However, not long after, the crowd that was generated when Habib Rizieq returned was questioned and brought to justice. Today, Habib Rizieq is also scheduled to be summoned by the Polda Metro Jaya for further information.
On the other hand, the mass action that raided Mahfud MD's residence was viral on social media. The masses did not like the legal process related to the crowd involving Habib Rizieq Shihab.
"The residents of Pamekasan did not accept Habib Rizieq Shihab's summons by the police," explained one person in a viral video on social media.
