Daily Ummat ■ The existence of the Indonesian National Army basically exists as a defense force to protect the sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
Therefore, it is hoped that the TNI will not get caught up in practical politics in responding to the dynamics in society.
"The main task is to fight against enemies of the state who threaten sovereignty, separatist groups, and threatening foreign powers. So please do not let their attitudes, words and actions be trapped in practical politics regarding political dynamics in society," said member of Commission I DPR RI Jazuli Juwaini in written statement, on Sunday (22/11).
Jazuli who is also the head of the PKS faction of the DPR RI said that the dynamics that occur in society are sufficiently resolved by the civil authorities. If there is a violation of order and security, he said, there will already be the central government, regional government and police apparatus as law enforcers.
He emphasized this with regard to the presence of the TNI, which recently became the public spotlight after being involved in the dynamics in the country, one of which was the recent removal of billboards with Habib Rizieq Shihab's picture.
"Facing the dynamic turmoil of the people, it is not necessary to show the strength of the state, let alone the strength of the TNI's war. This can lead to biased perceptions of the main duties and functions of the TNI so it is natural to be criticized by many parties, from community leaders to civil society," said Jazuli.
He emphasized that the TNI's main function is to fight against separatist groups and protect the territorial sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia from the threat of foreign forces. Meanwhile, the people are the biological children of the Republic of Indonesia who must be protected, heard and empowered.
